Does it look to you, that we millennials and the generation after us is set up for failure?

That's because it is. 

I must generalize, but for the majority of us, we were told to go to school, get good grades, so we can go to college, so that then we can have a great job.

This would have been the ideal situation for the baby boomers, had they had the means to go to college.

However, we millennials are expected to do all that and pay off the student loans when the big thing that's hindering our progression is - in fact - the older generation. These people that ought to be retiring are still holding onto the jobs and positions that we were counting on. Why? Its because they can't retire yet because the economy is at a historic low point rendering their plans null and void. As a result,  we, the younger generation seem to be at a spot where we are waiting for some people to either leave, retire, or die out before we can move up.

Should we feel bad? No!

However, the problems that we face are real.

Student loans aren't going to pay themselves, healthcare is expensive despite political efforts to get the government to take care of that..

We can only look to our government for so much help before they turn around and say "We get you this, this, and that. You will do this for us in return."

Although it may be fair, its a trade that was not discussed as such at the beginning.

Fine print what? There was no fine print!

Yet every time we secede to do a whole lot in return for something trivial that was done for us, we give away our freedoms.

The only entity we can look to is ourselves.

As individuals, we may have little say or impact,

but in Unity there is Strength.

 

What we need to do is:

Avoid the Victim Mentality

Gather what resources we have and redirect our energy

Partner up or network to establish our own industries/standards

Help each other succeed, each offering to help from their own strengths

Look not only to help ourselves, but instill systems that will ensure the generations after us will not be set up for loss.

Work to impact the lives of people around us in a positive way

Throw off rules and regulations that limit creativity and innovation.

We can rise up to the challenge and decide not to participate in a recession. 

Let's work together to rig the system in our favor.

If we can't use the current system to create a level of success,

then we can damn well create our own system that will guarantee our success and the comfortably of a working established system for future generations.
